He also presides over a party that will not stop interfering with the housing markets. HIP’s of course is the classic case. What a waste of time. I would love to calculate the time and money spent educating the public or the professional debates in Parliament, the cost of which would probably have built at least one large hospital. Home energy information is useful but really should apply to brand new properties.
It does not take much sense to work out that a character property without loft insulation is not very efficient and any surveyor worth his salt will point this out.
Now however I am getting concerned with the government’s thoughts on banning second homes in “remote/rural” areas. Of course the nearest rural villages I deal with are Letchmore Heath and Aldenham, and if a client of mine is a 90 year old frail senior citizen living on a piffling pension and some yuppies come up from Islington offering her a mouth watering price for a weekend retreat what is wrong with this? Can you imagine government inspectors knocking on people’s doors asking if you are living in the area permanently or just weekends?
Go away Mr Brown. Re-educate youngsters and dysfunctional families, make our streets safe and build hospitals and maybe open a couple of prisons in the outer Hebrides so that the judicial system can hand out proper sentences.
Rumours of a housing recession may have been greatly exaggerated
Most experts are now agreeing that a recession is not going to hit mainland UK.
Not that this will please most citizens who are having to work harder to sustain the standard of living they have enjoyed over the last 10 years.
Property prices may well level out by say 5% this year, which is perhaps a bit of a bore if you decided to postpone the sale of your £1,000,000 house from last year to this year, but if you are buying as well the issue may not be that upsetting.
The air was always going to leak out of the inflated property market, at some time flatness in the property market may continue and if so for how long? My guess is that until confidence is regained and supply and demand is sorted out, the general property market could stagnate for some while.
Our marketing at the David Lloyd Bushey is turning into a brilliant PR coup for Barry Allsuch & Co. Our company has no hesitation recommending newcomers to the area to look at the club and all its many leisure and sports facilities and Horizons has been distributed and read at the club. This is important for potential vendors to know because the David Lloyd audience is a very captive and knowledgeable audience.
Sales follow from market initiative
In fact we are already doing sales and a letting business from enquiries at the club.
On a personal level I would like to thank my many friends and clients for their well received birthday greetings.
I suppose establishing a company in 1977, which has become synonymous with Radlett and
Elstree, is an achievement, but although my nature will always make sure I lead from the front a considerable amount of the company’s continued success and
prominence comes from my loyal and hard working sales and rentals team.
I am sorry this month I have had to bow to market forces but regular readers know my middle
name has never been “Canute”.
