March 2005: Arsenal sponsors present champagne to player of the month

I N one of his proudest ever moments, Barry Allsuch has walked on to the hallowed turf at Highbury to present a well-deserved bottle of champagne to Arsenal Ladies Player of the Month - goalkeeper Emma Byrne.

As a key sponsor of the Ladies team Mr Allsuch was invited on to the pitch with his son Jonathan, just before kick off at Arsenal's important recent Premiership tie against Portsmouth on March 5th 2005.

"It was an awesome experience," said Barry, "and Jonathan is still pinching himself - he can't believe it actually happened, and I can understand why!

"It was totally surreal, from greeting Emma, Arsenal's Irish International goalkeeper, in the famous Highbury Marble Hall to walking through the players' tunnel on to the pitch and being there in front of 38,000 fans it was an unforgettable moment"

And the Saturday presentation was just the start of a great weekend for Arsenal Ladies who notched up a convincing 3-0 League Cup Final victory against arch rivals Charlton the next day".
